CAL-OSHA BEGINS "LARGEST HEAT ENFORCEMENT EFFORT EVER"

Fall may have officially started, but there is no vacation from the heat.
Forecasters expect high temperatures in the upper nineties and low one hundreds for the rest of this week in the Central Valley.
As a result, Cal-OSHA has announced they will be out in force to ensure full compliance with heat stress regulations.

Several other Units will join Cal-OSHA for this effort:

• The Division of Labor Standards Enforcement Licensing Unit will also be present to verify farm labor contractor credentials.
• Representatives from the Contractors State License Board will ensure construction contractors are properly licensed.

Inspectors are out in force, utilizing seventy individuals and twenty teams of inspectors to comb the state, looking for non-compliant operations.

Don’t become the victim of a citation:

• Make sure all of your supervisors and employees are trained in Heat Stress Prevention techniques and First Aid for exposure;
• Ensure there is plenty of drinking water at your site;
• Provide shade;
• Ensure emergency communication procedures are in place and everyone knows their role;
• Make sure you have a written Heat Stress Prevention Plan available onsite.
